Burns and Johnston, was founded in 1999 by Dwight Burns, the former bond manager of one of Canada's major Sureties. As an underwriter, Mr. Burns worked within the Ottawa area Construction Community for over 25 years. During this time Mr. Burns recognized the need for specialized surety brokering expertise. In 1999 Mr. Burns, decided to relocate to the area to open such an office and today, Burns and Johnston Insurance & Surety Services Ltd. continues to focus exclusively on the construction business, providing hands-on Bonding and Insurance facilities to select contractors.
